Let Me Teach You About Music & Sound

In Today Dollars My Music Education Has Cost Over $130K. You Can Greatly Benefit From This.

For the low cost of $20 per half hour for ASU students faculty, staff, employees and family members, you can be on your way to success on jazz-rock-blues-folk-classical: guitar, bass, & Pro Tools/Mixing or mastering. Non-ASU is $25/ half hour. Give me a call at 706.724.7979. Ask for Mick Rhoden. For 47 songs to hear, go to www.soundclick.com/michaelrhoden .

My approach uses the best of hands on and use of technology. In my teaching studio I have recording gear, amps and a mixer, a computer with CD-R and a printer for tailored lessons with high-speed internet connections for lesson enhancement. All you need is a desire and your instrument. If you do not have one, a rental may be arranged for reasonable rates.

I am located five miles form downtown Augusta, Georgia. I will have a downtown office soon and possibly a West Augusta office later. If you have a web cam, we can conduct advanced lessons over the internet, provided you have a high-speed connection.

My teaching studio will be opening soon. A perk is reduced rates in my recording studio ($25/hr). My regular rate is $60.

Good Luck With You Music!

Mike Rhoden

I studied jazz guitar with Stan Samole for a semester. He taught Pat Metheny, Steve Morse, Hiram Bullock and others. He had me playing the first five choruses to Giant Steps, but he was a master of Indian Classical music which I picked up in three of his other classes. My classical guitar teacher for a year was Rene Gonzales. He is now the head of the program since the death of Juan Mercadal, a world figure in guitar.

To visit the University of Miami ranked third behind Juilliard and Eastman is some rankings go to: http://www.music.miami.edu  The jazz school wins more Downbeat Magazine awards than any other school in the country. Jaco taught and studied there, Will Lee-bassist, the Bruce Hornsby band (all), Gloria Estaban's former guitarist John Hart, Steve Morse, Hiram Bullock, Randy Johnston with Rufus Reid and vice versa, and the list goes on and on. If you want to go to music school, go there. We have just recently been given $65M to upgrade our music school, it is now the Frost School of Music, and there are ample scholarship moneys. Cost is about $33K undergraduate per year. The area is paradise. Also, at the UM music web site, they offer a basic theory couse with CD and online use for incoming freshmen or highschool students preparing for school. Cost is $289 and is self paced.
